Live Purposefully
The Bible warns us not to lust after evil things as the Israelites did by lusting after the things they enjoyed in Egypt. Does it mean the onions and garlic were evil? Of course not!
It’s just like when the Bible tells us in Numbers Chapter 13, that ten of the twelve spies brought back an evil report. Why did God call it an evil report? It’s because anything that comes in rejection of truth is evil!
What’s your purpose for living? What’s that thing you’ve set your heart upon to accomplish? It’s not too late to discover what God wants you to accomplish for His glory. Get into His Word, spend more time in prayer and He’ll guide you in the path you should follow.
A lot of times, God’s people become tired of the Word and the fellowship of believers. They get tired of all the preaching and teaching and praying. They start looking for something ‘new and interesting.’ That’s lusting after evil things! Such Christians backslide without even knowing it! The Bible says with many of them God was not well pleased. These are the mixed multitude. They’re looking for entertainment in church! Hear me child of God, even though we socialize in church, church is not for socializing!
The lack of purpose in life has led to frustration in many lives. Some become millionaires only to discover that money doesn’t bring satisfaction, and soon they’re looking for something more. It’s only God that can show a man the purpose for his life. God’s Word says,
“Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified”
(Romans 8:30).
When we talk about destiny, we’re talking about what God’s purpose is for your life. Your profession is not the end in itself but a means to an end. Whether or not you’re going to be a politician or a lawyer isn’t so important, because that’s all a part of the process to fulfilling your destiny in God. God has a purpose for your life and you can actually know it. You also have a role to play in ensuring you fulfill that purpose.
