Faith, Faith & Hope, Prayer

Your Faith Life Is Everything

As a Christian, you must have a different attitude from the rest of the world. It is the attitude of Faith. That’s what the Apostle Paul referred to as the spirit of faith.

We have the same spirit of faith as the apostles, and those in the faith’s hall of fame, whose exploits are catalogue for us in the eleventh chapter of the book of Hebrews. Faith isn’t something you do or a process by which you receive from God; it’s a lifestyle.

Whose lifestyle? Hebrews 10:38 gives a comprehensive answer to this question in the very words of the Father. The Bible defines faith as “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1), that is, “the confirmation of unseen realities.”

To the world (the unbelieving, unconverted and unsaved), faith is an outlandish concept, but to us it’s everything. The very life of Christ in you was received by faith. Be careful not to assume faith is a gift, because it’s not! There are ministers who were greatly gifted in the healing ministry but died in sickness.

Why? They relied on the gift for ministry. You have to always remember that, even though you’re a minister, you’re first and foremost a Christian. This is why amidst a very busy schedule I always make out time to study the Word in order to build my faith strong. I have to live every day of my life by faith like any other Christian.

If you don’t mix the Word with faith, it won’t help you, even though it has the power to. There has to be a “chemistry” between the Word of God that you hear and your faith! Just as there has to be a chemical reaction between an acid and an alkali to produce salt, your faith must combine with the Word to produce results in your life.

As you hear and receive God’s Word, don’t question it; trust it! God’s Word is trustworthy and dependable, so accept that what it says you are, you are. Accept that what it says you can do, you can do. Don’t stop at hearing it and quoting it– begin to do it. Begin to act in line with what the Word has said about you. That’s how to mix the Word with faith. As you do this, it will produce the desired God-ordained results in your life.
